Step 1
Download the Application Form and send your completed form to AmeriIBG with the following:
- Your current Resume.
- Two to three letters of references from people who have direct knowledge of your qualifications for the teaching position.
If you are already in China and want change to another place, you also need a letter of references from your last school in China.
- Copy of your passport (personal details and photo page) or a copy of your driving license if you do not have a passport.
- Payment of non-refundable US$89 Application Fee (bank receipt or check). The balance will be due no less than eight weeks before the departure date. If you are submitting your application within 12 weeks of the departure date, you must send the full program cost straight away with your initial application. ( payable to: American Int’l Business Group ).
- Copies of certificate, degree or diploma. If you have not yet graduated, request a letter to be sent on official letterhead directly from your degree-granting institution to AmeriIBG indicating your anticipated graduation date and stating that you are a student in good standing.
- Copies of teaching qualifications, certificates or written references (if available).
- 6 passport size photos
Within 5 days of receiving the complete application, Admissions will confirm that the documents are received.
Step 2
Once we received your application, we will send all the materials with an evaluation report to the institutions. Before accepting a teacher, the institutions require a sighting of all these elements. The employer will be selected based on your preferences: location, level, start date, etc. If you have no preferences, we will decide for you from the available positions.
Step 3
Then we will send you a concrete job offer, with the details of the school, level that you will teach, etc. If there are several positions available that match your preferences, we will send them all and you can choose the one that you prefer.
Step 4
When you indicate a desire to proceed with your application, we will send you the contract which will be very similar to the sample contract. Certain conditions such as salary, teaching hours and benefits are not normally negotiable, but we realize that there are bound to be matters which require explanation, so please make sure you clarify any items or wording that concerns you before proceeding to the next step.
Step 5
Sign the contract. We urge you to please make sure that this is your final carefully-considered decision because after you give the host school your promise to accept, the school will decline applications from other candidates and commence an expensive and time-consuming procedure on your behalf.
(This process is an important formality, and is very time consuming because several government departments are involved. The school first needs to report all your information and their intention to invite you as a teacher to the district education administration. After getting approval from the district government, they then need to follow a similar procedure with the provincial or Municipal city's education administration. Then, the third step is to go to the provincial or the Municipal city's foreign affairs office to apply for the work visa documents ( two letters) for you. The whole procedure usually takes 10-15 days).
Step 6
Mail the signed contract to the AmeriIBG Office ( see Contact Us ) by the enrolment deadline. Within 5 days of receiving the signed contract, we will confirm your placement.
Step 7
We will send you a medical form for you to go through the medical test, about the medical test please note the following items. ( Please see Medical & Insurance for details)
- The medical form should have your photo on it with a seal across the juncture between the photo and the medical form.
- The items listed on the medical form should all be gone through.
- Please email or fax us your medical results soon after you have gone through medical test.
- When you come to China please bring the original medical form, the chest X-ray exam results, photo and original laboratory exam (blood test) report, otherwise you will have to go through blood test again.
- Please bring the original and attested medical results including the X ray photo with you when you come to China, otherwise you will have to go through medical test again after you have arrived in China.
Step 8
The school in China will sponsor your work visa, If you are teaching in China, your work permit and visa issuance letter will be faxed and will be posted to you by express. PLEASE PROVIDE A FAX NUMBER. (see Visa page)
Step 9
Once you have received them you will need to visit your nearest Chinese Embassy or Consulate, take the work permit and visa issuance letter along with passport photos and your passport and pay the visa fee. (There is more about the process in our Chinese visa section.)
Step 10
Inform us as to the time and date you will arrive China and the airline and flight number. We then confirm with your host school to pick you up at the airport and arrange further travel arrangements to your host school.
Step 11
Arrival in China. Your host school's representative will meet you at the airport and arrange travel to your school.
Step 12
You arrive at your apartment.
Your host school's representative will help you become familiar with your campus and your living environment and assist you with shopping for basic equipment and food.
Step 13
Your host school will then begin to apply and process the "Foreign Expert Certificate" and "Residence Permit" for you. This should be completed within 20 days of arrival.
An orientation program may be offered by your school.
Step 14
Your colleagues will assist you with preparation of your first lessons and you begin work.
Step 15
We also offer continuing support for you to have a successful teaching experience in China.
